"I'll be famous one day, but for now I'm stuck in middle school with a bunch of morons" The story of the dairy of a wimpy kid is very intriguing. It tells you everything about the movie in a nutshell. This movie which is essentially made for kids is very appealing to the psyche to grownups as well. It makes you laugh and along with it teaches you a lot about the internal mind of an average pre teen.

The movie draws its inspiration from the hugely popular book "The diary of the wimpy kid" by Jeff Kinney. Having read the book I can safely say that the movie has retained all the exciting and comic parts of the book and the story line does drifts more that necessary. The characters are exactly like in the book and they all have been created the way they should have been.

Our main character in the movie is the wimpy kid named Greg Heffley (played by Zachary Gordon). He has just started going to middle school and his pre teen blood seems to be flowing in full flow as he gets jealous of kids who are popular with girls and he decides to become the most admired guy of the class. He lives with his family and he prefers to spend time with his best friend Rowley (Robert Capron).

Now Rowley and Heffley have been best friends since childhood hence they have a very strong bond. But Heffley does likes to be seen in public with Rowley as he is afraid that people might think of him as a small kid like Rowley. While Rowley is socially inept, He does not care about the people around him and is a very loyal friend of Heffley. The story takes us on a roller coaster journey of Heffley's life and his various attempts to seek attention.

Then out of the blue there is a crack in their friendship when a cartoon strip designed by Rowley gets accepted while Heffley is left out in the cold and thereby squashing any plans of him being the most popular kid of the class. Unable to handle the pressure on his own he befriends another of his classmate, but does not seem to have the same fun as he used to have with Rowley. And so begins the story of their reconciliation and becoming best friends once again.

The acting in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid is of the utmost quality as all the child actors do an amazing job of bringing a graphic novel alive on screen. Especially Zachary Gordon, he does a marvelous job of portraying the emotions and complex mind of Heffley. He emote the ideas in his head with precision hence as a result the viewers can laugh their heart out.

Taken as a whole this entire movie is an absolute delight. It entertains completely and after the run time is over, your mind keeps on asking for more. It is highly recommended for all the ages. Go out and watch a wimpy kid do this stuff!
